More than 200 Georgia-based companies made the 2023 Inc. 5000 list, which ranks the fastest-growing private companies in America.

Topping the list for Georgia was Peachtree Corners software company Fusus, which ranked 70th overall.

The companies are ranked according to percentage revenue growth from 2019 to 2022 and must apply to be considered. The minimum revenue for 2019 is $200,000, and for 2022, it's $2 million.

Fusus had a three-year growth of 6,709%, according to Inc. The company helps law enforcement officers solve crime through a platform that gives them access to public and private video sources. The Cobb County Police Department is one of the agencies that uses Fusus.

The startup, founded by CEO Chris Lindenau in 2019, has investments from Axon Enterprise Inc., the maker of the electric shock Taser.

Atlanta Business Chronicle had ranked Fusus No. 12 on its list of fastest-growing companies in metro Atlanta.

Other top-ranking Georgia companies on the Inc. list include:

  • No. 72: VOLO Events Agency, a producer of live events and experiential marketing
  • No. 86: SureLock Technology, an IT solutions company
  • No. 92: ModifyHealth, a meal delivery service for people with chronic conditions
  • No. 136: PrizePicks, a daily fantasy sports company
  • No. 163: BroadRange Logistics, a flexible warehousing company

Combined, the 223 Georgia companies on the list had a total revenue of $24.6 billion and 219% median growth. The majority, or 142 of the companies, were repeat honorees.

It's typical for Georgia to have about that many companies on the list, though usually the state has a few that have higher ranking.

Last year, Atlanta-based nurse staffing platform SnapNurse earned the No. 2 ranking. The year before, holding company Banyan Software was No. 16, which dropped to No. 1,015 this year. Data security company OneTrust took the No. 1 spot in 2020.

SnapNurse and OneTrust are not on the 2023 Inc. list.

Correction/Clarification
Clarification: CharterUp, which has a dual headquarters in Austin and Atlanta, is No. 2 on Inc.'s 5000 list. CharterUp was listed as based in Austin on Inc.'s list.
