Atlanta Ventures leads $3M raise into local marketing company

AdPipe CEO Andrew Levy wants to make it easier and cheaper for corporations to use videos for marketing.

“I’ve shipped teams of 15 people across multiple countries and multiple flights to capture hours of video distilled down to a two-minute video, used one time then never again,” Levy said. “I've seen that a million different times for a decade straight and I just said, ‘This is a misuse of resources.’”

AdPipe is a platform that allows companies to repurpose old videos in their archive to create new content. It also allows them to integrate content with new text and animations. For example, if construction company Caterpillar Inc., one of AdPipe’s clients, has a video clip of a technician working on a machine that was used for an overview video, it can add a new piece of text that says “Hiring Technicians” for a recruiting advertisement.

Prominent local investors are betting on the company to grow in the market. Atlanta Ventures, founded by serial entrepreneur David Cummings, has led a $3 million seed investment into the company. Tim Noonan, TechOperators Partner, also participated in the raise.

Around half of the funds will go toward enhancing the startup’s product in order to serve mid-market size companies as opposed to smaller ones. The startup has 12 employees and 25 clients. Levy didn’t say how much it looks to grow those numbers but added it is “ambitious to be market leaders.”

The startup’s market opportunity is at approximately $8 billion, Levy said, based on the number of companies that invest in video marketing. The service also provides a huge cost-saving opportunity for businesses.

Levy and his co-founder Sam Birdsong saw the problems they’re solving first-hand with their previous company Chispa House. The content production business manages content for Fortune 500 and mid-market companies, helping create high-end videos.

“We see incredible pain for marketers," Levy said. "The scope of their job is changing every day. They were hired for strategy, but they're being turned into creatives for content, storage, management and things they didn't sign up for, and they're asking for help."

While Levy says there are a number of companies entering the market that leverage artificial intelligence to create video generators, AdPipe distinguishes itself by addressing larger organizations while also focusing on repurposing so new content doesn’t always have to be made.

The company also looks to improve the product by leveraging AI so that by typing in a few key words, a business can automatically find relevant videos within a library of thousands.
