Rebecca Campbell, an executive with over two decades of experience working for The Walt Disney Co., has joined Santa Fe-based immersive art and entertainment company Meow Wolf's board of directors, the company announced Tuesday.

Campbell, who retired from Disney in 2023, most recently served as chairman of international content and operations for Disney. She also worked as chairman of direct-to-consumer and international operations for the Burbank, California-based media conglomerate, where she oversaw the rollout of Disney+ across various international markets, according to a Tuesday news release from Meow Wolf.

She was also president of Disneyland Resort while at the California company, the release notes.

"Meow Wolf is creating the future with immersive, unforgettable adventures. Art is the foundation, and community is paramount," Campbell said in a statement. "As a firm believer in the power of interactive experiences, I see tremendous potential in Meow Wolf's unique approach to entertainment and am excited to join the board of directors."

Campbell joins Meow Wolf's seven-person board of directors, chaired by Chris Sobecki, managing partner at New York-based The Invus Group LLC. Besides Meow Wolf, she also currently sits on the board of directors for Broadcast Music Inc. and as a trustee on the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles board of directors.

"Rebecca's vast experience is a game-changer for Meow Wolf," CEO Jose Tolosa said in a statement. "Her deep knowledge of the media and entertainment space, including theme parks, perfectly aligns with our global aspirations, enhancing our current and future exhibitions and extending our influence."

Meow Wolf, which currently operates four physical exhibition locations, including one each in Santa Fe, Denver, Las Vegas, Nevada and Grapevine, Texas, just outside of Dallas, rolled out its flagship mobile application and a virtual reality game called "Walkabout Mini Golf: Meow Wolf" in early December.

Those moves came as the Santa Fe company underwent a series of corporate layoffs and upper-level restructuring. Eight members of Meow Wolf's corporate team were laid off, and the company restructured management at its "House of Eternal Return" exhibit in Santa Fe.

Didi Behturum, Meow Wolf's chief communications officer, told New Mexico Inno the moves were a straight reduction in force and not based on individual performance, and that let-go employees received severance packages and "are welcome to re-apply for a role in the future."

A fifth exhibition, located in Houston, is scheduled to open this year. Meow Wolf employs over 1,000 people across its four operational exhibitions and two corporate offices in Los Angeles and New York.
