An Albuquerque-based bioaerosol surveillance company has hired a new CEO.
BioFlyte announced on July 12 that Todd Sickles was named to the top leadership position. Sickles joins the company from Tsymmetry where he also served as CEO. Tsymmetry, which is headquartered in D.C., focuses on IT consulting and services for the federal government — mainly for homeland security and the public sector, according to the release.
“The BioFlyte team has developed a unique and truly disruptive biothreat identification technology based on decades of research that can transform threat detection and response across many environments,” Sickles said in the release. “I have spent a large portion of my career focused on national security priorities and requirements and can see the potential of this technology within bioterrorist and other biohazard situations, in both the federal and commercial sectors. I am excited for the opportunity to help accelerate commercialization and market adoption efforts alongside the rest of the team here.”
The company also stated that BioFlyte’s co-founder Charles "Chuck" Call, Ph.D., is now the chief technology officer and head of product. He previously held the CEO title.
Launched in 2020, BioFlyte is commercializing technology that it says can detect biological threats present in the air. Its main use will be for protecting "critical infrastructure" — places like government labs and banks.
