Holmans USA LLC, a New Mexico information technology services firm, is under new ownership.
John Santoru, who lives in Albuquerque, told Business First that he purchased a remaining 80% stake in the firm from Anthony Trujillo. Santoru, who is now the sole owner after the deal, declined to disclose the cost of the purchase.
The deal marks the beginning of a new era — particularly in its focus on the type of services the company provides. According to Santoru, Holmans will put more emphasis on technical services, which is a term for IT that allows organizations to integrate and use technological tools.
“We want to get more into technical services and offering that to our clientele and customers,” Santoru said in an interview. “We really haven't done a lot in the services area ... we want to go more out into the community, into other accounts and develop you know our services portfolio.”
Holmans has locations in Albuquerque; Los Alamos; Oak Ridge, Tennessee; and Livermore, California. Each of those locations coincides with government laboratories. On that note, the firm works with Sandia National Laboratories and Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Per federal spending data, Holmans has been awarded $404,332 since Fiscal Year 2011. More than 53% of those awards have come from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Santoru has spent his entire professional career after college at Holmans. He said he started in the distribution center before working his way up to director of sales and eventually vice president and president. Now, he said he is investing in "a lot [of] state, local and education business."
The company employs about 40 people. Santoru wants to increase the company's personnel by between 5% to 10% by the end of 2022.
