Albuquerque data and artificial intelligence company Resilient Solutions 21 will offer its services for the Department of Defense.

Last week, RS21 announced that it had received an award of up to $241 million for the Data Readiness for Artificial Intelligence Development, which is meant to help the DOD put data resources to use with artificial intelligence.

The agreement was awarded by the U.S. Army Contracting command for the Joint Artificial Intelligence Center.

RS21 said it will provide services including data science, data engineering, software development, data generation and other services. After its initial selection for the basic ordering agreement, RS21 will compete for specific task orders to build "reliable, ethical AI-enabled systems."

It's unclear what other firms have been chosen alongside RS21 for the Joint Artificial Intelligence Center contract. However, MORSE Corp. was been chosen for the same contract, according to reporting in C4ISR and RS21 spokeswoman Natalie Sommer.

Figure Eight Federal of Washington, D.C., also joined the agreement, and the Joint Artificial Intelligence Center will have access to its data and AI platform, according to a company release.

The Joint Artificial Intelligence Center, led by director and Lieutenant General Michael S. Groen, was established by the DOD in 2018 and is part of the defense department's artificial intelligence strategy.

For RS21, the announcement comes not long after it named Annemarie Henton as director of state and local services.

The firm also ranked among Business First's fastest-growing firms in the "medium" category last year, ranking eighth with more than 68% revenue growth between 2018 and 2020, according to our List.
