A Wichita technology nonprofit is looking for its next executive director.
FlagshipKansas.Tech announced Wednesday that Conner Hampton will be leaving his role Friday after joining the nonprofit in March 2023.
"After a fulfilling chapter, this will be my last week at Flagship," Hampton said in a LinkedIn post Thursday. "I really enjoyed the community we created, and the people the organization was able to serve. The Wichita community has always embraced me and I can’t wait for the next opportunity to help people in my hometown."
The transitional period after Hampton's exit will be managed by the nonprofit's board of directors and an advisory board, the tech nonprofit said in a news release. The two boards will focus on the upcoming Ad Astra Technology Summit during Wichita Start Up Week set for Oct. 2 at the Hyatt. Science educator Bill Nye is the guest speaker.
Megan Harper, board vice chair and co-chair for the tech summit, said this year's summit will have more than 14 breakout sessions, 30 technology awards and networking opportunities. Along with Nye, the nonprofit will announce a list of its speakers later this month.
Until a new executive director is announced, past board chair Luis Rodriguez will lead events, membership and sponsorship inquiries for the nonprofit.
"We remain fully committed to our mission and the important work ahead," FlagshipKansas.Tech chair Ben Sebree said. "Our focus on the Ad Astra Technology Summit and the future leadership of FlagshipKansas.Tech will ensure that we continue to serve our members and the broader tech community with excellence."
