Wichita State University has named a new leader for its Center for Entrepreneurship.
The school announced Tuesday that Troy Tabor has been named director of the center, a move that was effective Jan. 23.
A serial entrepreneur, Tabor comes to the role after most recently having been CTO and an investor with online logo database LogoLounge LLC.
Tabor, who succeeds Mark Torline in the entrepreneurship role at WSU, is also formerly the CTO for Atlas Aerospace in Wichita.
“As an entrepreneur myself, I love working with diverse teams, solving big problems, building consensus, and being around creative and driven individuals,” Tabor says in a press release. “I feel that this is an opportunity to give back. My goal coming in is to listen first and gain an understanding of what has been successful in the past, and where the center has opportunities to expand.”
Tabor has been an Andover City Council member since 2011 and serves on multiple local boards, including Wichita Transit, the Wichita Area Metropolitan Planning Organization and the Kansas League of Municipalities.
“We are delighted to appoint Troy to this position,” says Jeremy Patterson, executive director of the Office of Innovation and New Ventures at WSU. “His experience across emerging technologies, community engagement and knowledge exchange — combined with his proven ability at identifying opportunities, developing partnerships, and leading initiatives — will help build on CFE’s past success and deliver an exciting future.”
Torline, who led the Center for Entrepreneurship since 2014, is now program director for the university’s FirePoint Innovation Center.
