A recent entrepreneurial contest in Wichita has led to partnership between a California-based technology startup and the largest insurance provider in the state of Kansas.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas announced that it has teamed with MiResource of San Mateo, Calif., to provide a new digital option for accessing mental health care free to all Kansans.

MiResource was a participant in the recent community health NXSTAGE Pilot Competition from entrepreneurial organization NXTUS Inc. for which BCBSK was the presenting sponsor and supported with a $65,000 grant.

That contest landed pilot projects in August for three participating startups.

MiResource provides a customizable digital platform to connect users to the best next steps in their search for mental health care.

“Deciding that you’re ready to seek help is a big first step, but unfortunately the process can be difficult,” Matt All, BCBSKS CEO, said in a press release. “The trial-and-error approach to finding the right provider can be costly and waste precious time. This tool can help people find the care they need quickly and with less confusion.”
