Wichita-based AgEagle Aerial Solutions Inc. on Wednesday announced that it has acquired Seattle-based MicaSense Inc. in a deal valued at $23 million in combined stock and cash.

MicaSense, which specializes in sensors for drones, was founded in 2014 and was previously under the umbrella of European drone group Parrot.

“Joining forces with MicaSense will empower AgEagle to drive true innovation and advancements of commercial drone systems and solutions for a number of high growth industry segments,” AgEagle CEO Michael Drozd said in a press release. “With the onboarding of MicaSense’s powerful imaging technologies onto a drone designed for package delivery, we believe it will enable us to produce a turnkey solution that processes in-flight data in real time.”

AgEagle (NYSE: UAVS), which moved its drone manufacturing operations from Neodesha to Wichita last year, has targeted package delivery as a primary sector for growth.
