DC Inno Approved: Tech Events to Know About This Week (3/30-4/5)



Here's what we've found for the best startup and tech networking events in the D.C. area to check out this week.

Tuesday

Event: Peter Thiel on “Developing the Developed World”

Location: ICC Auditorium 3700 O St NW Washington, DC 20057 Date/Time: Tuesday, March 31 at 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Price: Free — the first 300 attendees will receive a free copy of Zero to One: Notes on Startups, or How to Build the Future.

Peter Thiel, the legendary entrepreneur and venture capitalist behind PayPal, Facebook and the Thiel Fellowship, will be delivering a lecture at Georgetown University on "Developing the Developed World.” The speech is expected to revolve around themes from Thiel's bestselling book “Zero to One: Notes on Startups, or How to Build the Future.” Georgetown is well-known locally for its commitment to supporting student startups, specifically through the Georgetown Entrepreneurship Initiative.

The TechBreakfast is a monthly morning breakfast meetup where local entrepreneurs, developers and designers can network together. Participants learn from their peers through a show and tell/show-case style presentation. Scheduled showcases include: Kinglet, RadPad, Sysenex Inc, Program Risk ID and Adafield.

Wednesday

Event: SharePoint Fest - D.C. 2015

Location: Walter E. Washington Convention Center 801 Mount Vernon Place Northwest Washington, DC 20001 Date/Time: Wed. April 8 at 8:00 AM to Fri. April 10th at 5:30 PM Price: Pricing varies greatly based on ticket package and training sessions

SharePoint Fest offers technical classes and workshops – taught by Microsoft Certified Trainers, Microsoft engineers and Microsoft MVPs – covering Enterprise Content Management, Power Users, Social SharePoint, Business Value, Implementation/Administration, Office 365, Search, Business Intelligence, Special Topics & Development. The event is booked as a training regiment for tech industry influenced individuals and organizations using SharePoint — a web application framework and platform developed by Microsoft that integrates intranet, content management, and document management.

Event: NoVA TechBreakfast

Location: AOL - Steve Case Center 22000 AOL Way Dulles, VA Date/Time: Wed. April 1 from 8:00 AM to 10:00AM Price: Free

Back to back breakfast mania. Nova’s monthly morning tech breakfast meetup will kick off at 8:15am with a series of introductions, sponsors and other community announcements. This month’s showcase presentations will include: Multilevers: Mohito from Sriram Chellappan, RadPad by Craig Chester, Notify AnyWhere presented by Ajay Maheshwari and Laurie Wiggins’ Sysenex Inc: Program Risk ID. Event: DC Code Kitchen

Location: United States Patent and Trademark Office Madison Building 600 Dulany St Alexandria, VA 22314 Date/Time: Sat. April 4 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Price: $0 to $75 dependent on event

The Code Kitchen is geared towards mobile developers, mobile industry professionals, enthusiasts and students — an ID is required to verify registration at the event. Hosted by The International Developer Education and Advocacy Alliance (IDEAA), the groups seeks to build and maintain a visible program which fosters community support for the overall mobile development community. The event will be kicked off by a keynote speech at 9 a.m.; the event includes sponsor-provided challenges and widespread networking opportunities.
