Office Envy: History, Hockey and Town Halls at EverFi's New DC Digs

D.C.-based edtech firm EverFi was growing at a fast clip last year, and Georgetown was starting to feel a bit congested.

Fitting hundreds of employees in a 23,000-square-foot space wasn't going to work, so in May this year, the company moved into a West End office four times the size to allow some breathing room.

The 80,000-square-foot digs, spanning two floors of a building at 2300 N St. NW, hosts 300 employees and company executives. It was designed by Wingate Hughes Architects.

To keep leadership close to the action, the five executive offices share glass walls with the rest of the workspace. EverFi's "war room" is also decked out in glass, making even the firm's most important meetings visible the office, while offering a great view of D.C. on the opposite wall.

The office's hallways are lined with signed jerseys – mostly hockey – and meeting rooms, all of which are named after important landmarks of EverFi's history, like 1225 Potomac (its first office) and Miss Marion.

Despite its open layout and spacious lounge areas around most of the office, the headquarters still has several phone rooms and two quiet rooms – named Acelas in homage to the Amtrak train's quiet cars.

A wide open kitchen and lunch room with bar tables is highlighted by bleacher seating that rises all the way to the second floor. With capacity to hold every one of EverFi's 550 employees, the central room hosts monthly town halls including employees from the HQ and its three other offices.

The building EverFi situated itself in has perks of its own, including a fitness center, golf simulator and rooftop area with Wi-Fi.
