Who doesn't have a podcast nowadays?

For a while, the Ballston Business Improvement District could put itself in the "no podcast" category. But now, they're embarking on their own monthly interview show.

Debuting Feb. 1, the show is a spin-off of Ballston BID's app, Ballston Connect, and the show aptly goes by the same name. Each month, CEO Tina Leone will chat with Arlington-based entrepreneurs and innovators. And, of course, the show is specifically focused on the Ballston neighborhood.

"Ballston has steadily evolved into a place where creative, ambitious and compelling people can live, work, and play together," Leone said in a statement. "We are so thrilled to finally share the story of Ballston through their eyes and to let our listeners hear about the amazing ways this neighborhood is transforming in real time."

The first episode will feature an interview from serial entrepreneur and restauranteur Scott Parker, who owns a few Arlington local spots like A-Town Bar and Grill, Don Tito and Barley Mac. The second episode will feature Washington Capitals mascot Slapshot.

Ballston Connect's launch is not without competition from other Arlington media shows. ARLNow has its own podcast, 26 Sq. Mi., where they interview newsmakers in the area. Arlington Independent Media also puts out a wide range of radio shows and podcasts from their Clarendon studios, including one called D.C. Entrepreneur.

The production team for Ballston Connect includes all five of the Ballston BID's staff members and media consultant Steve Orr. Orr spent about half of his three-decades-long broadcasting career as a business news anchor and feature reporter at MarketWatch Radio Network.
