Inno Approved: DC Tech Events To Know About This Week (3/17-3/30)

Like DC Inno Approved? A fresh version comes out every other Friday with new ideas of tech and networking events to check out. Here's a list of great tech, business and networking events in D.C., Maryland and Virginia, to hit up in the next two weeks. 

Friday, March 17

Event: FinTech Revolution Workshop

"The DC FinTech Workshop will provide an overview of the FinTech Revolution by breaking down the sector into key topics including: FinTech and Regulation; Blockchain and the distributed ledger; Data and FinTech; and a Strategic Vision for the FinTech Revolution. The purpose of the conference is to provide background on the FinTech revolution and the potential for problem solving within the financial services industry."

Event: Stravinsky Rave "Rite of Spring" Dance Party

"Feel the pulse of revolution in a full orchestra performance of Stravinsky's iconic "Rite of Spring." Halcyon Stage partners with The Experiential Orchestra and conductor James Blachly to bring a classical music rave to Dock 5 at Union Market. Audience members are invited to dance and experience the physicality of this famously riot-inducing ballet. Curated DJ sets blending electronica and classical styles complete a night of shock, awe, and musical rebellion." 

Event: Environmental Film Festival: FLINT

"A work-in-progress screening by one of the UK’s leading documentary filmmakers Environmental Film Festival alum Anthony Baxter (A Dangerous Game, You’ve Been Trumped) will show exclusive footage taken for his upcoming film Flint (UK/USA 2017), collected during more than two years of documenting one of the worst mass poisonings in American history."  

Event: Taste on Wheels: Green Eggs & Kegs

Event: Open Data and Land Governance: Moving Towards an Information Ecosystem

"This workshop will provide participants with a global perspective of open data its importance, while delving into some of the outcomes from the discussion and implications for land governance. Participants will learn about different kinds of open data, from national cadastral systems to global databases, and the elements that are necessary to take a standardized approach, including the use of metadata and standardized vocabularies. Participants will have the opportunity to explore practical implications of open data for their own organizations and define steps towards creating their own open systems."

Tuesday, March 21

Event: ATARC Cloud & Data Center Working Group Kickoff Meeting

"The ATARC Cloud & Data Center Working Group will hold a kickoff meeing on March 21 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Auditorium at GSA Headquarters in Washington, D.C. (Note: Registration opens at 1:00 p.m. and the program will start at 1:30 p.m. For those outside of the Washington, D.C. area, a conference bridge will be provided to participate.)

The working group’s goal is to provide government policy makers with recommendations to increase efficiency and reduce cost through the utilization of next-generation, cutting-edge cloud and data center solutions."

Event: Evening Mini Hack

"We are a team at National Institutes of Health developing a neurofeedback platform of whole brain networks. The output of our data gives us binary information every 2 seconds (either correct or incorrect brain state). We have a few brain computer interfaces developed, but we really need some creative help in thinking up dynamic stimuli that maintain attention over the course of 10 minute neurofeedback scans."

Event: MicroStrategy: Business Intelligence Software and Data Analytics

Event: Art Tasting Opening Reception

Event: Artomatic 2017 Opening Night
