The Top 5 DC Tech Hires in November

Tech.co
  • Tech.co hired long-time DC Tech mainstay Joe Corbett as CTO this month. Corbett is also the co-founder of long-form media startup Random Nerds, where he remains in a scaled back role.
Tech Council of Maryland
  • Iron Bow Technologies CEO Rene LaVigne became the new chair of the Rockville-based Tech Council of Maryland, which calls itself the state's largest technology trade association. LaVigne takes up the role a year after Phil Schiff announced he was stepping down from the chair.
Endgame
  • Arlington-based cybersecurity firm Endgame hired away Opower general counsel and compliance officer Donald Saelinger to be its new senior vice president and general counsel. Saelinger, an important player in Oracle's acquisition of Opower, will now handle all legal activities at Endgame.
Cooley LLP
  • Former FCC Commissioner Robert McDowell joined Cooley LLP as the law firm's newest partner. Originally appointed to the FCC by President Bush in 2006 and reappointed by President Obama in 2009, McDowell will be co-leading Cooley's communications practice, and working with Cooley's tech clients on regulatory issues, especially as related to the communications industry.
Axios
  • Axios, the new media company created by former Politico chiefs Mike Allen, Jim Vandehei and Roy Schwartz, hired FCC chairman Tom Wheeler's press secretary Kim Hart as tech editor.
  • Axios also hired Dan Primack, a major player at Fortune, to run its upcoming tech newsletter, though he will remain in Boston.
