7 DC Tech Execs From the LivingSocial Family Tree

LivingSocial2

LivingSocial's acquisition by Groupon this week marks the end of a major player in the Washington, D.C. startup and tech scene.  The company had raised $934.7 million in funding and been valued at $1 billion, but had taken a lot of hits, shedding employees and subsidiary units at a rapid clip. It sold South Korean TicketMonster for $260 million and its Southeast Asian assets for $18.5 million in 2014 In 2015, it sold Spain-based Let's Bonus and Australian AussieCommerce Group, both for undisclosed amounts.  But, even if the company is going away, that doesn't mean the effect it's had since it launched in 2007 will end. There are a lot of people in the area who put LivingSocial on their resumes, many of whom have gone on to found or take up senior roles at other tech and startup companies around the District.
