3 DC Tech Startups Combine For a Mother’s Day Special

On Mother's Day, your mom wants to be fed, wants to relax and wants to be loved. Since figuring out what to get your mom for Mother’s Day is hard, these three Washington, D.C.-based startups came together to take out the guesswork.

Galley, a healthy meal delivery service, flowery delivery service UrbanStems and custom framing company Framebridge have teamed up to offer customers a package that includes brunch, flowers and a framed photo, with delivery to D.C., Maryland and Virginia this Mother’s Day.

Galley’s co-founder Alan Clifford said he knows how much time some families put into planning Mother’s day activities. This $79 package brings all of the activities to your home in a beautiful arrangement, stress-free at a good price, according to Clifford.

The package, with tip and tax included, offers a Galley brunch to feed four to six people with 6" frittatas (4), fresh fruit with mint yogurt and homemade granola, herbed Yukon potatoes, French toast bread pudding with made-from-scratch caramel glaze and orange juice, a Framebridge custom framed Instagram mini in a special edition Charlotte fame, and an UrbanStems bouquet of roses, calla lilies, mums, veronica and succulents.

Separately, these items would cost you around $40 each. The Framebridge custom mini framed photo costs $35, the UrbanStems bouquet costs $35 and a Galley brunch would normally cost you between $40 and $65. “We’re customers of both companies and they’re customers of ours,” Clifford said. “So this is one situation where all the stars aligned easily.”

The three companies have teamed up and Galley will provide delivery service in the DMV area. It has the most vehicles and capacity, and is accustomed to high volume orders similar to what Clifford is seeing with the Mother’s Day special orders.

“[It’s] a really great price point that allows us to get brand recognition,” Clifford said. “The product has been pretty popular so far, [and] we handle this volume every night.”

To ensure you get the custom photo in your frame, order within 24 hours of delivery. But be sure to place all photo orders by May 5, Clifford said.

“This is the first time we’ve actually offered other products that are very complementary to ours,” Clifford said. “It’s the first time we’re done something like this.”

But what about all the fathers out there come June? Clifford responded by saying that they will do a similar Father’s Day delivery special, with different products "more specific" to a fathers' interests. And it won't stop there, Clifford said keep an eye out for more offers from Galley for family-centric holidays.
