Ian Walsh, TrackMaven's chief marketing officer, has parted ways with the quickly growing marketing technology firm, DC Inno has learned.

Walsh served as CMO for the D.C.-based company over the last two years and has been instrumental to its rapid rise. Both CEO Allen Gannett and Walsh confirmed the move, noting that the decision was mutual. Gannett has stepped in to oversee the duties of CMO, while the company is not actively recruiting a new CMO at this time, according to Walsh.

Aside from being an executive, Walsh was also a stakeholder.

"After two years of helping us build the marketing at TrackMaven, Ian and us parted ways as he pursues the next step in his career. While we're sorry to see him go, he's built an amazing team including our awesome Director of Content Marketing Kara Burney and our Senior Director of Demand Gen Marina Harmon. With him leaving, I'll be running marketing with the help of Adam Monago our new VP of Product Marketing," Gannett told DC Inno.

Walsh said that he is currently working part-time as a marketing consultant for several local startups, though he declined to name specific companies. His decision to leave one of D.C.'s fastest growing tech companies was motivated by a desire to take some time off.

"I'm really proud of how our Marketing team helped fuel TrackMaven's growth from a handful to hundreds of the world's best companies as customers. Now I'm looking forward to a short break to recharge and ponder what's next. In the meantime, I'm certain that TrackMaven is in super capable hands with Kara, Marina, Adam and Allen," said Walsh in an email.

Walsh added in a phone interview, "I know they're [TrackMaven] focused on staying lean and growing quickly."

Walsh joined TrackMaven in 2014 from CEB Global, a tech-powered business intelligence consulting firm that calls Arlington, Va., home. During his reign as chief marketer, TrackMaven attracted a $14 million Series B investment via a group of prominent venture capitalists which includes cash from powerhouse VC firm New Enterprise Associates (NEA).

Walsh explained that though he is unsure what his next big project will exactly be, he is excited about his future prospects.

Since being founded in 2012, TrackMaven's impressive market traction has allowed them to grow their team substantially. As of today, the company stands at about 100 employees. For those unfamiliar with the brand, TrackMaven sells a business analytics software platform that can ingest social media data to help design efficient marketing campaigns. Earlier this year, Mattermark named TrackMaven one of the fastest growing startups in the U.S.
