DC Download: UVa's New Rosslyn Base, Truebill Heads to Y Combinator

UVa's new Rosslyn digs
  • The University of Virginia's Darden Business School is taking over a building in Rosslyn, Va. to expand its executive MBA programs. The idea is that having a new campus just across the river from Washington, D.C. will entice students who don't want to go to Charlottesville, including some who will fly in just for the weekend and fly out again to go back to work.
Truebill gets rid of those annoying subscriptions
  • D.C.-based Truebill works to save you money by monitoring and canceling subscription services, and has caught the eye of Y Combinator. The company, founded by the creators of Webs, a firm sold to Vistaprint for $117 million.
The App Alliance is (in) a brick house
  • The App Alliance (technically the Application Developers Alliance) is a trade group for the world of software. While that world is mostly invisible behind software, the App Alliance's headquarters shows off its brick at every opportunity. I checked it out in our latest Office Envy.
2U moves house
  • Maryland edtech stalwart 2U is moving headquarters, but not too far from its current Landover base. The firm needs a bigger home to handle its fast-growing team and is taking over a building in Lanham to do so. Considering the company has ten times the number of people it had in 2010, a new space is a smart move.
