Vienna, Va.-based social bookmarking and publisher audience platform AddThis has been acquired by software giant Oracle for an undisclosed amount. Oracle announced on Tuesday that the deal will bring AddThis into the Oracle Data Cloud business.
AddThis is part of the fabric of 15 million websites, offering data analysis and audience insight to website owners. The original AddThis product made social sharing a lot easier than it had been before, but it was the expansion into plugins, content recommendations and other tools in a publisher marketplace that likely caught Oracle's eye.
