Imagine the future of the sharing economy
  • The sharing economy is a big deal and getting bigger. Unfortunately for Uber, Airbnb, TaskRabbit and others, the regulations right now are pretty piecemeal and vague. I took a look at how that could change if Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.)and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Chairwoman Edith Ramirez have their way. They'll be at a talk today about the future of sharing economy regulations and it could be an important stepping stone to complete rules.

Why self-driving cars need smart cities
  • Tech and auto companies from Google and Apple to Tesla and Ford all talk about how self-driving cars are the future. But, driverless cars will need some new infrastructure and regulatory support to actually function in society. That's why Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx announced a $50 million grant to go to a city that will move boldly to create the systems that will let self-driving cars get around safely.
