  • As 50 on Fire approaches, we took a look at the government and advocacy finalists who have gravitated to D.C. to bring innovation to the world of government. Sometimes that's from within as elected or appointed officials, and sometimes that means advocating from outside as lobbyists, analysts or partners in improving the way government functions. The unusual story of Clinchr's CEO
  • Clinchr was founded by two Capital One employees, building software for a video-based job application service,. The money comes based on how many invites a company sends to possible employees. How  CEO Vernon Howard ended up in the role is the real story though, as Chris Bing explores.
Google's new Tesla exec isn't for its self-driving car
  • Google has nabbed one of Tesla Motors' execs who was crucial in making the Autopilot system, but he's not coming to Google to work on their self-driving car. That's despite the Google car's advancement, with new patents to make it possible to alert pedestrians what the car is doing and to make it function as a self-driving taxi. Whether or not the robot hand to make gestures at pedestrians is a good idea is less clear.
ThreatConnect raises $16 million
  • Cybersecurity startup ThreatConnect has raised a $16  million Series B round for its Threat Intelligence Platform. The company is now working on a defense-focused product with SAP subsidiary SAP NS2. Find out more in Chris Bing's story here.
