Monday, November 9

Event: Developing Innovative Products

Meet Suresh Thalluri, the founder of Lean Innovation Labs, as he takes you through a lesson on best practices for product development. He boasts experiencing building various different business intelligence and SaaS tools, including a messaging app called WigMee. This talk is two part, the first being connected to engineering and the second relates to product implementation and development.

Event: Columbia M.D. TechBreakfast

If you've never attended a TechBreakfast event then this is the perfect time. Come out, grab a coffee, bagel and listen to a series of great presentations from local entrepreneurs in a causal and open environment. On the docket: LaunchGen, ESR: communityIQ! Realized, Loople Mobile and Breezio.

Event: A Symposium with 2015 American Nobel Laureates at the swank Swedish Embassy

Come out and hear multiple speeches from some of the most well recognized names in science today. American Nobel Laureates Dr. William Campbell, Dr. Paul Modrich, Dr. Aziz Sancar and Dr. Angus Deaton will discuss a number of new and important findings related to the fields of economics, physiology and chemistry. The event will be held at the beautiful Swedish embassy located in NW D.C.

Event: State of DevOps Report

Location: Comcast, 1110 Vermont Ave NW, Suite 600, Washington, D.C. Date/Time: Tuesday, November 10, begins at 6:30 p.m. Event type: Price: free

For the fourth consecutive year, the State of DevOps Report meet up will offer an opportunity for local developers and engineers to talk about growing industry trends, techniques and important issues. Director of performance and analytics at Chef Nicole Forsgren, who co-authored last year's report, will lead the discussion. There's already more than 100 guests who have RSVP'd to the event.

Event: The Scoop on What it Takes hosted by TechShop

Join TechShop DC-Arlington, 1776 and General Assembly at 1776's Crystal City location to learn about the resources, opportunities and tools available to local entrepreneurs hoping to build profitable startups. Speakers will include executives from TandemNSI, GearSwitch and 1EQ.

Wednesday, November 11

Event: Putting Research Results to Work hosted by AddThis

Location: 1595 Spring Hill Road, Suite 300, Vienna, V.A. Date/Time: Wednesday, November 11, begins at 7 p.m. Event type: info-session, developer meet up Price: free

This event brings two talks. The first will focus on how best to put research results to work towards business success. For the second talk, AddThis product manager William King will teach guests how the company's UX works. Some casual networking and pizza will begin the night at about 6:30 p.m.

Thursday, November 12

Event: CDK (coder, designers & kegs) Fall fest

A developer meet up that offers foosball, ping pong, beer, casual networking and a great space to meet other local technologisst. What more do you want?

Event: DHS visits Georgetown University for a talk about data, analytics and more...

Location: Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies, 640 Massachusetts Ave Nw, Washington, D.C. Date/Time: Thursday, November 12, begins at 6 p.m. Event type: panel discussion, seminar, lecture, educational experience Price: free

Officials from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will be visiting Georgetown University to offer a series of lightning talks. Featured DHS technology researchers and division leaders will talk about the latest agency projects. Learn more about how the civilian defense agency is approaching new and innovative topics like smart city development and big data tools to, among other things, predict terrorist attacks.

Event: Time Maps & Elusive Buses hosted by Data Viz DC

Location: FI Consulting, 1500 Wilson Blvd, 4th floor, Arlington, V.A. Date/Time: Thursday, November 12, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Event type: developer meet up, seminar, open lecture, presentations, group projects Price: free

Max Watson, a physicist, postdoctoral fellow at NIST and data scientist at L-3 Global Communications, will present a lecture on time maps. Time maps is a concept that works to visualize complex data streams related to tracking user events and movement. In Thursday's event, Metro Applied Planning Intelligence group director Michael Eichler will also talk about the ways WMATA uses data science to predict public transit patterns.

Friday, November 13

Event: DevFest MD - Google Developer Festival

Location: Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship, 9250 Bendix Rd North, Columbia, M.D. Date/Time: Friday, November 13, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Event type: conference, develop meet up, symposium Price: free

This event will bring a full day of lightning talks, developer workshops, seminars, roundtable discussions and hacking opportunities for attendees to learn more about programming in Google.

The Weekend, November 14-15

Event: Startup Weekend DC - global startup battle

Location: Cove 7th St, 829 7th St NW, Washington, D.C. Date/Time: Friday, November 13, at 6:30 p.m. to Sunday, November 15, at 9 p.m. Event type: weekend long camp, casual networking, workshops, hackathon, startup pitch competition Price: $74-$100
