DC Download: Neustar's $450M Buy and OPM's New Cybersecurity Chief

Neustar spends $450 million on analytics firm MarketShare
  • Sterling, Va.-based IT software developer Neustar has bought marketing analytics firm MarketShare Partners for $450 million. Neustar is best known for formerly holding the contract for phone number switching in the U.S. before recently losing it to Telcordia.  The acquisition is likely part of Neustar's readjustment of its business model in the wake of that change.
OPM's new cybersecurity chief has a lengthy resumé
  • The Office of Personnel Management thinks it has found the one who can save them from the cybersecurity issues that let hackers steal the personal information of 21.5 million people earlier this year. Clifton Triplett, whose career has seen him build the technical and corporate infrastructure for cybersecurity at Motorola and GM, is now senior advisor on cybersecurity and IT issues at OPM. But can he come up with a way to limit and prevent hacker damage after OPM was so badly compromised?
FireEye's stock isn't up in smoke yet
