2U keeps jumping past Wall Street expectations
  • Maryland-based edtech success story 2U beat Wall Street's expectations for the third quarter, continuing a streak of coming out ahead on revenue and earnings. CEO Chip Paucek felt confident enough to even predict that the company will break through into profitability next quarter. Find out what else we learned from the quarterly report.
Beware what you Venmo
  • Sure it can be funny to put some kind of joke as the reason for the money you send a friend via Venmo, but don't be surprised f your joke about fried cheese being a drug gets you investigated by law enforcement. Ryan Ferguson took a look at some of the key words that can lead to awkward phone calls with Venmo, checking that you are not in fact the world's dumbest terrorist.

Uber wants you to carpool
  • Uber launched its UberPool program in D.C. last week, the latest addition to the burgeoning list of options the company has been bringing to D.C. lately. But with options like Split and Bridj already here, Uber will have to make a play for riders who haven't bothered using Uber before because of the cost. I talked to Uber's D.C. manager to find out how she plans to expand Uber's customer base and get more people carpooling.
