1776 invests DC startup Aquicore
Washington, D.C.-based energy analytics and management startup Aquicore has raised $3.1 million in seed funding led by D.C. tech incubator 1776. It's one of the first startups to be funded by 1776's new $12.5 million seed fund. Hillary Clinton's campaign gets clever on Snapchat
Hillary Clinton's campaign took to Snapchat Tuesday, with a Snapchat story highlighting the different departments of her campaign headquarters. There are some clever jokes hidden amongst the messaging, and it's a good sign of what to expect from candidates looking to appeal to younger voters. Mach37 alumni bringing in funding
Two local startups, alumni of Virginia cybersecurity accelerator Mach37, have raised seed rounds. Cyph and Virgil Security raised their respective rounds less than a year after graduating from the the three month program. How the government should handle hackers
The hack of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management compromised more than 20 million U.S. citizens' personal data and the government has set up a $133 million contract with a cybersecurity company to provide identity protection. But that's a pretty late attempt at damage control, the smarter move might be to work on how to deal with what happens next time there is a hack, which unfortunately seems mostly inevitable.
