Judge rules Uber drivers can sue Uber drivers as class-action case

Uber drivers can sue Uber as a class according to a District Judge in San Francisco. That means the jury trial over whether Uber's arrangement with drivers violates California labor laws will be done against all of the drivers with pending suits, not just one in particular. The question of whether drivers are employees who should be reimbursed for expenses and tips could have huge implications for the ride-hailing platform. Read more from the Verge here.

1776 closes a $12.5M seed fund

After more than a year in the making, D.C. tech startup incubator 1776 has announced the closing of a $12.5M Seed Fund. The money will be used to invest in early stage companies that are creating innovative energy, transportation, healthcare and/or smart city technology, and according to a source, will focus on companies from 1776's Challenge Cup Competition. Read more in Chris Bing's report here.
