Monday’s Startup Grind hosts a fireside chat with FiscalNote founder and CEO Tim Hwang. Brian Park, Startup Grind’s D.C. chapter director, will lead the discussion with Hwang, who at the age of 23 has already secured $18 million in funding for his company from NEA, Mark Cuban and Steve Case, among other investors. Are you an active or retired military professional who would like to network with other tech-centric veterans? Maryland TechVets has a free morning meetup. It will not only provide a networking opportunity but it will also offer information on how to register a Veteran-Owned or Service Disabled business. “Under this program, contracting officers may restrict competition to SDVOSBs and award a sole source or set-aside contract when appropriate. There is a 3% agency-wide goal so don’t miss your opportunity,” the event organizer writes. CEO of The Randall Group, Monica M. Randall, will lead a discussion regarding federal certification programs. Doors open and breakfast is served at 7:30 a.m.
Event: DC Tech Meetup #38: Women In Tech Edition

DC Tech Meetup is back and in full action with its latest event, which will be focused on women working in the technology sector. As always, meet fellow technologists, startup entrepreneurs, designers, developers and investors in this large networking event paired with rapid startup pitch presentations. This week, UPace, TRX Systems, GoodWorld, Senseware and Photox will be presenting. Unlike past events, however, you’ll also get to hear from a number of local women in tech organizations that provide resources to aspiring female innovators and entrepreneurs.

The central Maryland tech community is putting on a networking event for any and all women who are interested in technology and business. While the event is aimed at attracting female guests, it’s open to everyone. The purchase of a ticket also includes two drinks and small-plate appetizers. According to HTC Women in Technology, attendees will be offered a one year free membership to HTC Women in Technology of Central Maryland if they purchase a ticket. Event: Playing Nice - Using PMML, Python, R, and SAS for Production Analytics

In the next Data Community DC event, SAS senior staff scientist Patrick Hall, who is a designer of data mining and machine learning technologies, will be leading a discussion regarding “strategies that pair R and Python with SAS and PMML to train sophisticated predictive models and deploy them to in-database and Hadoop environments to make predictions on new data.” As of Sunday, 105 programmers interested in big-data and/or data analytics had already RSVP’d via MeetUp.com
