Event: Connecting Devices That Have Never Been Connected Before

In a presentation by SIGFOX and LinkLabs, guests will learn about connecting devices that have never been connected before and doing so at great distances with alternative energy. SIGFOX and LinkLabs are two local companies that are building and operating long-range, low-power, high-scale wireless networks. These networks can help in creating a more “connected” world, which could mean the advent of Internet of Things devices. The night will begin with time to network and to snack on small plate food.

July’s DevOps meet up is a gathering of software developers to network and discuss projects. The organizer, Nathen Harvey, writes that “this is a great venue for lightning talks, first time presenters, and deep technical dives. We all want to hear from you.” If you’re a local tech enthusiast involved in the creation of software then this event is for you. At the moment, 80 guests have already RSVP’d.
Event: 6th Annual Govt Contractors Summer Soiree
Location: The Kennedy Center, 2700 F St NW, Washington, D.C. Date/Time: Tuesday, July 14, 5:30 pm to 7:30 p.m. Price: $25
The 6th Annual Govt Contractors Summer Soiree is a massive networking event for a variety of federal contractors from different sectors. A cohort of technology companies including HARRIS IT will be in attendance along with a number of representatives from Federal agencies, according to organizer Jennifer Schaus. Some of those agencies include: OPM, DHS, SBA and Veteran Affairs.

On Wednesday, at the newest TechBreakfast event, Ubidock’s Aaron Florez, RadPad Community Manager Craig Chester, Notify AnyWhere CEO Ajay Maheshwari and Scorebrd Inc founder Neil Giarratana will be pitching their business ideas to guests. So, come out, grab a bagel and coffee on the house and get a lesson from other tech enthusiasts, startup founders and developers to get your day started.
Event: Cybersecurity Training Session For Military Personnel (veterans included)

The educational seminar will focus on how to ensure cyber protection at home and with social media. Fazlul Kabir, PhD., Director of Technology at Blue Water and Adjunct Professor at the University of Maryland in Cybersecurity, will instruct the BOOTCAMP seminar. In a presentation by co-founder Sebastian Ehreiser of Hank the Beer Tank — a tech startup based in the District — guests will learn how to establish and grow a business on limited resources. According to the event organizer, Ehreiser has “used the principles of [the] Lean Startup and growth hacking to launch his company for less than the cost of a college credit hour.” Entrepreneurs and beginning startup founders are encouraged to attend and participate in the discussion.

It’s summer, which means it is time to switch from hot coffee to iced. And it’s also a great complimentary drink to consume during a long coding session. Fortunately, Code & Coffee, a casual, collaborative club for coders, will be hosting an event in Silver Spring this Saturday. “Code & Coffee has no agenda and presenters. All you need is your laptop and a project - be it for work, for fun, or both,” the organizers of the event posted on Meetup.com
