Here's what we've found for the best startup and tech networking events in the D.C. area to check out this week.

Monday

Event: Demos & Drinks: IoT Edition

Location: Impact Hub 419 7th St NW 3rd Floor Washington DC Date/Time: Mon. June 29 — from 6PM to 8PM Price: Free

Join other DC tech entrepreneurs and innovators at Impact Hub’s spacious office to discuss the dynamics at play behind the Internet of Things (IoT) product revolution. Tech in Motion DC will be hosting an IoT themed “Demos and Drinks” event tonight, where they will be spotlighting D.C.-based IoT startups and the work they doing.

Tuesday

Event: InfoSec Coaching & Mentorship / Vulnerability Management

Location: River House Party Room 1111 Army Navy Dr. Arlington VA Date/Time: Tues. June 30 — from 6PM to 9PM Price: Free

Are you an information security specialist and/or want to learn more about the industry and how to succeed in it? Then head on over to D.C. Cyber Security Professional’s Tuesday night event where a panel of security professionals from the vulnerability management, security scanning, incident response and digital forensics industries will lead a discussion on the contemporary state of cybersecurity. “Some of the key topics that we will cover include understanding the different components of vulnerabilities, overview of the most common vulnerability scoring system (CVSS) and how it yields severity levels,” the event’s MeetUp page reads.

Event: DC Machine Learning Journal Club’s First Meeting

Location: Industry Dive 829 7th St NW Washington DC Date/Time: Tues. June 30 — starting at 7PM Price: Free

Machine learning technology is behind a number of growing consumer electronics trends and has become a major initiative behind some incredibly innovative software. Tuesday will be the first meeting for this D.C.-based club that specializes in talking about the technology and its adaptions in the future. A discussion leader will lead the talks and organize a cohort of journal articles and studies to read/analyze before opening the night's topic.

Event: Vinetta Project Showcase — Pitch & Panel Startup Competition

Location: iStrategyLabs 641 S St. NW Floor 1 Washington DC Date/Time: Tues. June 30 — from 6:30PM to 9PM Price: $20

On Tuesday, ISL will be hosting a massive pitch-off that will be judged by a star-studded panel of recognizable D.C. tech influencers, including NEA partner Dayna Grayson, LifeFuels Founder John Perrelli, MapBox executive Bonnie Bogle and Revolution Growth COO Song Pak. The Vinetta project showcase is meant to, “accelerate female-founded enterprises. It's our aim to help women build the skills and network necessary to launch high growth ventures and raise the capital they need,” the event’s MeetUp page reads.

Thursday

Event: Nova Node — Node Night

Location: Fluencia 1400 Key Blvd (Level A) Arlington VA Date/Time: Thurs. July 2 — starting at 7PM Price: Free

Nova Node describes the event as, “a casual geek gathering, where you can hack on a node.js project, get help/advice, or ask questions about anything node.js related. Anyone working with node.js at any level (or anyone wanting to work with it) is welcome.” It will be an open event guided by volunteers from the Node School, an open source code writing project run by volunteers that hopes to educate and host community events.

Friday

Event: Bethesda Podcasting Meetup — How to podcast infosession Location: Launch Workplaces 9841 Washingtonian Blvd suite 200 Gaithersburg MD Date/Time: Fri. July 3 — from 12PM to 2PM Price: Free

This is an open and free invitation to learn more podcasting and how to do it successfully (be it about tech news or anything else) — which is the practice of running a quickly growing and personalized radio station-style show. If you’re a fan of Marc Maron or have ever watched his show, Maron, then you know exactly how difficult it is to create your own podcast. In this open event, guests will learn about the industry and techniques to make their own product better in a professional radio studio.
