WeWork Hires Time Warner Cable Exec as New President

WeWork

Co-working space provider WeWork hired Time Warner Cable CFO Artie Minson as its new president and COO. Minson, who has worked as a financial executive at AOL as well as TWC, is coming on board to help scale the company. WeWork already has three locations in the District and partnerships with several more in the area, including the WeWork WeLive combined apartment and co-working spaces in D.C. and Virginia.

“I couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity to join WeWork,” Minson said in a statement. “I have spent almost my entire career in large scale membership businesses and WeWork represents the most compelling growth opportunity I have seen in the category."

Minson will be based out of WeWork's New York City headquarters, but has some ties to D.C., getting his undergraduate degree at Georgetown University and currently serving on its Board of Regents. Bringing Minson on board suggest that WeWork, which already has 42 locations in 15 cities and four countries, wants to start growing even more quickly.

“Artie is a substantive leader, with a proven track record of scaling businesses globally,” said WeWork CEO Adam Neumann in a statement. "He shares our values as well as our passion for building a meaningful community. We are excited to have him join us in our endeavor to help our members create their life's work."

In D.C., the co-working space market has grown especially crowded of late, with incubators and more casual co-working spots like Cove competing for customers. WeWork has a fairly broad customer base though, which may be why it's been able to keep luring in new tenants despite what feels like a saturated market. Minson will likely focus on expanding WeWork's presence even more, especially on the global scale.

"By providing the infrastructure, platform and services, we can deliver on the promise of WeWork’s mission, helping our members focus on making a life, not just a living,” Minson said.
