George Washington University graduate Ben Leventhal has brought his restaurant reservation app Resy to Washington, D.C. Levanthal, best known as the co-founder of the popular food blog Eater, started Resy last year and the Ashton Kutcher-backed app is now available in Los Angeles, Miami and parts of New York City, with an expansion to the Hamptons next week.

"DC is a fun one for us for a bunch of reasons, not the least of which is that the restaurant scene here is exploding right now," Leventhal wrote in a blog post. "From crazy genius José Andrés to, well, crazy genius Peter Chang, the city’s restaurant landscape has never been better. Grab a seat and see for yourself."

The app offers hard-to-get restaurant reservations for anywhere from free to $25 depending on when and where you want to eat. You can also get on a virtual waiting list in case a place opens up. As part of the launch in the area, reservations will be free for the the next two weeks. A bunch of local restaurants have signed on, including Doi Moi, Mintwood Place, Marvin, Estadio, Tico, Sushi Taro, DC Coast and Rural Society.

Welcoming @ResyDC today. Peter Chang, @EstadioDC , @Tico_DC and plenty more launch with us. http://t.co/fzU79yzgqs pic.twitter.com/0zkklf7DWk
