Here's what we've found for the best startup and tech networking events in the D.C. area to check out this week.

Tuesday

Event: Lunch & Learn: Marketing Your Business to Investors;

This event is for entrepreneurs and startup founders who would like to pursue potential funding for their businesses which may be currently bootstrapped. First and foremost, it is a networking event and an informational meet up opportunity to get a better sense at what it takes to develop a feasible pitch. Sponsored and hosted by co-working space Launch Workplaces, there is already 34 Tech Meetup members who have RSVP’d. “This Bootcamp session is all about how to improve your chances of winning investment dollars,” the event’s Meetup page reads.

Location: Lisner Auditorium of GWU 730 21st Street NW Washington, DC Date/Time: Tues. May 5 8:30AM to Thurs. May 7 1:00 PM Price: Free to $225, dependent on registration and identification

The Humans to Mars Summit is a premier, two day conference held on GW’s campus which showcases some of the leading voices on space exploration, including Explore Mars Executive Director Chris Carberry and Private Astronaut/GHO Ventures President Greg Olsen. College students with an ID save 70 percent off registration for the event. Explore Mars is a non-profit organization dedicated to the “awareness and action resulting in human exploration of Mars,” according to the groups Facebook page.

Event: Apple Swift: Dev Features that You May Not Know w/ Cameron Conway

Location: WeWork Chinatown 718 7th Street NW Washington, DC Date/Time: Tues. May 5 — 6:30PM to 8:30PM Price: Free, Space Limited

Learn how to code in Swift, a popular Apple created programming language used by developers to create innovative products. The event is open to beginners and individuals without experience using Swift. “Based on information gleaned from GitHub and Stack Overflow, analyst firm RedMonk has seen Swift's popularity ranking soar from 68 to 22 in an unprecedented 6 months. Never look at programming the same way again — even if you never end up writing a single line of Swift code in your life,” the event’s Meetup page reads. The event will begin with a networking session accompanied by snacks provided by the venue and will then lead into an introductory discussion.

Wednesday

Event: DC Tech Meetup Exclusive Screening: USA Network's Mr. Robot

Location: iStrategyLabs HQ 641 S St NW Floor 1, Washington, DC Date/Time: Wed. May 6 — 7PM to ? Price: Free, Space Limited

Stemming away from the usual DC Tech Meetup format, this event will not be a pitch/demo activity but rather a community building and networking venue. iStrategy Labs was originally involved in the show’s promotion at SXSW when it was first unveiled. “Mr.Robot is a new USA Network psychological thriller that follows the life of Elliot (Rami Malek), a cyber-security engineer by day and a vigilante hacker by night, whose unique skill set makes him the target recruit of an underground hacking society aiming to bring down corporate America,” the event’s Meetup page reads.

Thursday

Event: NoVA TechBreakfast: Promotious, SpinSquare, RELEVANT, TenthDegree Technologies

Location: AOL 22000 AOL Way Steve Case Center Dulles, VA Date/Time: Thurs. May 7 — 8:00 AM to ? Price: Free

In this month’s NoVa morning breakfast Tech Meetup, local developers, designers, and entrepreneurs will come together to present their ideas and talk about growing local tech businesses over a few bagels and coffee. This is a localized, casual monthly event where attendees will be afforded the opportunity to speak to other entrepreneurs about the challenges and successes they have experienced. This is for anyone who would like to either network, practice their investor pitch or learn more about the local tech scene.

Friday

Event: Challenge Festival 2015: Opening Party

Location: Crystal City Park 2231 Crystal Dr Arlington, VA Date/Time: Fri. May 8 — 7PM to 11PM Price: The costs for different events throughout the week-long competition range greatly, but the opening party is free

1776’s Challenge Cup is the final to a cumulative global pitch-off competition that has been months in the making. The opening party will celebrate the start to a week long event that celebrates innovative startups and the technology they have created, internationally. The party will take place at the same time as the inaugural DMV County Fair, where 1776 and attendees will welcome about 80 startups from around the world to the District. “From May 8 to 16, the Challenge Festival will include industry conferences, galas, and the culmination of the Challenge Cup where over 70 entrepreneurs from around the world will compete for $650,000 in prizes,” according to 1776.
