Washington, D.C.-based EveryAction is an early-stage startup with software used by nonprofits to organize fundraising campaigns. The platform includes email, CRM, and social advocacy, among other avenues. Now, the startup is working to better help solve the email-related issues faced by nonprofits today.

In a white paper that EveryAction is soon to release, the startup surveyed 55 prominent nonprofits and found that they are losing, on average, nearly $15,000 a year because their email messages are being sent directly to spam. EveryAction hopes to capitalize by developing a solution.

Though email deliverability may be a topic as boring as its name suggests, serious dollars are lost in the fray. In fact, one in eight nonprofit emails never reach an inbox and the percentage of email never making it to inboxes is almost as high as the percent of emails opened.

From the total battalion of outgoing emails sent by nonprofits in 2014, EveryAction found that approximately 12.3 percent were directly delivered to spam folders. On average, nonprofits could increase email fundraising revenue by 14 percent if they reduced their spam rate to zero, according to the white paper report.

For someone who gets a mirage of email blasts on the daily, the spam filter is a helpful and necessary feature that is simply part of their day. But what it means for charitable organizations is an entirely different story, especially after overcoming the necessary email/donor registration process needed to build a strong donation base.

In distributing this report, EveryAction hopes to grow its clientele and subscription rate by proving that its software not only avoids the spam issue but that its entire product suite will enable organizations to run a better campaign. The startup is currently looking to hire nine employees, primarily on the development and sales sides.

EveryAction is funded by NGP VAN, a technology provider and consultant for progressive movements.

The report in full can be found here before it is officially published tomorrow morning.
