Voting for the 1st Round of #DCTechMadness Closes Wednesday

Last Tuesday we revealed the 2015 #DCTechMadness bracket, providing information on the final 64 companies that made our “Selection Tuesday” cut. On March 11, one day later, we opened voting to the public and now the results for the first round are pouring in. In just six days, a total of approximately 15,500 votes have been cast for the competition. When voting we encouraged voters to consider future growth opportunity, momentum, and to ask themselves: "which one of these companies is primed to grow in the next year?”

Vote Now

We are just about 24 hours away from the closing of #DCTechMadness’ first round. Let’s get those final votes in — rally the troops — it may be your last chance to advance in the competition.

Here are some interesting facts we were able to pull from the competition so far:

Total Votes [as of Tuesday at noon]: 15,565

Close Competition:

  • Roughly half of all matches have a difference of just 100 individual votes.
  • Of those matches, 10 are marked by a difference of 50 votes or less.
  • Only eight matches can be considered blowouts so far

Major Upset? At the moment, there are two 16-seeds beating their rivaling 1st-seeds by more than 100 votes. Woah.

Heavy Hitters: The two matches with the greatest total amount of votes cast in competition are Opower vs LiveSafe and WeddingWire vs Avizia. The arms race is on!

Great Participation:

  • The average total amount of votes cast per match equals 486 votes
  • The average total amount of votes cast per tech company equals 243 votes
