Uber CFO Brent Callinicos is resigning his position according to an email from CEO Travis Kalanick to investors shared with The Wall Street Journal.

Callinicos will stay with Uber as an adviser, although there is no new CFO picked out yet according to the email. Callinicos left his chief accountant and treasurer job at Google to join Uber in 2013.

Along with advising Uber, he is also on the board for clothing conglomerate PVH, which owns Calvin Klein, Speedo and other major brands, along with a few other major corporations.

"Almost two years ago, I brought on one of the great financial operators in Silicon Valley as our CFO," Kalanick wrote in the email. "Brent has done a wonderful job here at Uber but has decided that it is time for his next journey, one where his wife and daughter take the front seat."

It sounds like Callinicos is taking to heart the note that Google's CFO Patrick Pichette wrote when he resigned to spend more time with his own family. It may or may not be related but the similarities are striking at first glance.

There's been no official word yet from Uber about the announcement. We will update this post as the story develops.
