Office Envy: Tahzoo's New Home in DC's Tech Corridor

Tahzoo stands out in many ways as a model of a D.C. tech startup success. But as a side effect of its success, it had to find a new place in D.C. to operate almost as soon as it finished unpacking its boxes in its previous home in Georgtown about 18 months ago. Happily, Tahzoo’s new home near the convention center has two floors and plenty of space for the burgeoning staff and their marketing and branding wizardry.

“We really liked the idea of being in the middle of the D.C. Tech corridor,” said Brad Heidemann, CEO of Tahzoo. “We also liked the idea of being so metro accessible.”

The company has almost 50 staff members and is looking to hire another 25 or so just in the near-future. That’s going to be a lot easier now that the office is located so centrally Heidemann explained.

“Our principle challenge for the company is hiring and staffing the business and we felt like being in the corridor would help us be more attractive,” Heidemann said. “People can walk and ride their bikes to work every day so we just felt that this would be a good spot for long-term growth for the company. And we wanted to make sure we’re tied into the D.C. community and that we can participate in what’s going on here.”

The new office reveals a lot of the startup culture that birthed Tahzoo, which was named mainly for the pleasant sound and inspired in part by Tazo tea. A ping-pong room, beanbag chairs and a roof deck for happy hour events stand out, but the whole set up is designed to feel comfortable according to Heidemann.

“We really looked to make it an office people would be happy in,”Heidemann said.
