UberIntern Match is Like a Dating Service for Students and Startups

Career fairs come and go, with only a few employment opportunities presenting themselves as jobs that offer experience necessary to excel in the post grad working world. These companies – few and far in between – understand that an internship is not supposed to be about schlepping over to the nearest Starbucks for a coffee run and filing paperwork day in and day out. Rather, these businesses know that providing more educational, hands-on training is advantageous for students and the future of their office as well. Think about it: interns are the ideal candidates to hire come graduation day – they've already been groomed to handle entry level business and have a handle on the ins-and-outs of the organization.

So where do you find these types of companies? At UberOffices, of course.

Three coworking spaces that are home to tight-knit entrepreneurial communities, UberOffice's locations in Dupont, Tysons and Arlington are all banding together to host UberIntern Match. Students submit their résumé through Eventbrite and wait as they're matched with companies on the lookout for a candidate with their respective skills and expertise.

UberIntern Match is like a dating service for skilled, inspired students and UberOffices' best and brightest startups, with students given the opportunity to meet their potential matches at each UberOffice location beginning Friday, March 28. Students may be invited to just one or all match events, depending on which companies they're matched with.

More than 60 companies, 38 student organizations and seven local universities are due to participate, including: American University, Georgetown University, George Mason University, George Washington University, James Madison University, University of Maryland and University of Virginia.

As for why UberOffices is launching UberIntern Match, Founder & CEO Raymond Rahbar said, "We want to help college students come into the new entrepreneurship world and think they'll greatly benefit with a smaller team that can really show them all facets of business."

UberOffices are the ideal coworking spaces to host such an event, too, as UberOffices' size and scale allows it to easily find students internships in a wide variety of companies, industries and professions.

"We recognize the economy isn't great and finding jobs and/or interns is tough. We're here to help by getting students in front of some of the fastest growing startups in the DC region," Rahbar added in an email.

UberOffices also empathizes with startups that don't have the time or resources necessary to find the talent they need to help push their fledgling business forward.

"We aren't a typical landlord," Rahbar said. "We try and help our member companies as much as possible. Taking away the administrative hassle of hiring interns is something we can accomplish with our large numbers."

From non-profits to government contractors to edtech firms, UberIntern Match is sure to offer students the chance to find one extraordinary experience to take advantage of this summer.
