Koofers – the test-sharing platform spun out of Virginia Tech – has rapidly grown its user base since first launching in 2008. So much so that on Thursday the website students go to for practice exams, professor ratings, flashcards, internships and jobs announced that one million college students have joined the Koofers community.
A startup that began as a simple platform geared toward offering students equal access to study materials superseded all expectations, and did so with great ease. Perhaps it's because Koofers is a useful site for students to take advantage of during the school year, but I think it's more than that. I believe that the reason for Koofers continued climb in popularity is much thanks to the fact that the cofounders have remained grounded, appreciative of all the support they've received since the beginning.
Revealing the big news in a blog post, the folks behind Koofers had nothing but great things to say about their loyal users. Just goes to show that while they've grown, the fellas from Blacksburg have never lost touch with their connection to the community.
"To the Koofers team, this milestone is not about a number. It is about you, the students and instructors who make Koofers what it is," it reads. "This is your community; we just help lay the groundwork, but you are what gives this community its life. You drive our company forward with your feedback, suggestions, and criticism (keep it coming - we love it). The journey to this point has been quite an adventure."
A local company that truly values the people who have made it what is today, Koofers is well deserving of the success it has and will continue to find in the future.
