Startup Ranks the Top 10 Universities With the Most Creative Students

There's a reason why Johns Hopkins University has been named one of the top med schools worldwide and the number one hospital in the U.S. Students at Johns Hopkins are driven and relentless in their pursuit of innovative solutions to every day problems. They tend to be incredibly talented, skilled in their respective fields. Which would explain why the Baltimore school was named one of the top 10 universities with the most creative students by ViewsOnYou this year.

A London-based startup, ViewsOnYou is known for acting as a dating site of sorts for prospective employees and companies hiring. It sets up profiles to help match job seekers with the ideal businesses for them according to their personality type. Taking three components into consideration – energy, interpersonal and intelligence – ViewsOnYou offers a more in-depth connection for both parties.

Now you're probably reading this thinking 'what the heck does this have to do with creativity on school grounds?' And rightfully so, for it took me a while to grasp how this really relates to higher education. But as it turns out, the information submitted to ViewsOnYou by users offers an all-encompassing view of job candidates, including their Facebook and LinkedIn information that more often than not includes mention of a college education. So ViewsOnYou looked at data points based on the following traits – highly experimental, creative in ideas and happy for others to create ideas – in order to come up with the top 10 list of most creative students.

Johns Hopkins took the sixth place slot, which was slightly surprising seeing as I figured that the research institution would rank much higher. Johns Hopkins had a terrific year in 2013 from receiving an incredible gift of $350 million from New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and a promise of $20 million by Texas energy typhoon T. Boone Pickens to developing a cure for mice with down syndrome to offering a student's adorable service dog an honorary masters degree. It's clear that this school has no lack of ingenuity on campus.
