Pitching Over Pitchers: Georgetown Students Share Startup Ideas With a Couple of Brews

They call it liquid courage for a reason. Alcohol has a way of making you feel a lot more confident in yourself, which would explain why the whole crew over at the Georgetown Entrepreneurship Initiative use brews to their advantage with a "Pitching over Pitchers" event for up-and-coming student startup founders.

Every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. the Startup Hoyas invite 21+ undergraduates, MBAs, law and med students, founders, faculty, everyone and anyone to be a part of this innovative take on the pitching process. They share their concepts, learn from their peer's successes (and mistakes), all while enjoying some beer at Booeymonger.

The idea for "Pitching over Pitchers" obviously isn't a new one when you consider all of the tech meetups here in the District that consist of just that, but bringing the idea to school grounds is definitely a change of pace. It makes sense when you think about it, though, as students sure love their hops and thrive off of their entrepreneurial talent, so why not combine the two passions together for one amazing night of startup goodness.

Not quite 21-years-old yet? Well that's why "Pitching over Pitchers" is held at Booeymonger. If you can't drink, that's not a problem, and you can still enjoy networking with others who, like you, want to develop their own company from the ground up.

This is just one of the many events the Georgetown Entrepreneurship Initiative puts on in order to foster the growth of the entrepreneurial spirit on campus. They recently hosted Georgetown Entrepreneurship Day – which was a raging success I might add – and will continue to impress with spectacular events like the Entrepreneur Speaker Series, Startup Hoya Challenge, Chalk Talk, Pitch Jack, and Entrepreneurial Conversations.

This just goes to show Georgetown's unyielding support for student startups and how willing the school is to invest time and resources into our future business leaders.
