Learn How to Raise Startup Funding From Some of the Best in the Biz at 'InSITE Into the Future'

Attention startups looking to raise funding, receive pro-bono consultation, and gain invaluable insight into the venture capital world: nonprofit organization Investments from Student Interaction with Technology and Entrepreneurship. InSITE is hosting an early stage investing panel Friday night full of noteworthy professionals who you should be swapping business cards with ASAP. Dubbed "InSITE into the Future," the event with a punny title will prove to be a great learning experience for all attendees.

Since its inception in 1999, InSITE has served the entrepreneurial community, specifically promising graduate students and up-and-coming startups. The two-year fellowship program comprised of 150 of the most brilliant graduate students from a wide array of backgrounds is very selective in choosing those with a passion for entrepreneurship, technology and venture finance. Only sifting through a pool of Georgetown, GWU, and Johns Hopkins students locally, it's these students who will be charged with working alongside startups to build our entrepreneurial culture here in the District.

Every semester the fellows join up with startups that need their help developing their business and raising venture financing, working as pro-bono consultants to strengthen entrepreneurship in the nation's capital. This is the first year of full programming in D.C., which is why the D.C. chapter of InSITE is hosting a series of moderated panels and speaker events oriented toward the future of certain relevant industries to those in the D.C.-area.

Friday's panel will be moderated by one self-proclaimed "exceptionally awesome dude" Mauhan Zonoozy featuring Zaarly founder Eric Koester. Other notable members of the panel include Grant Allen, Senior Vice President at ABB Technology Ventures; Alyssa Lovegrove, Associate Director and Entrepreneurship-in-Residence at Georgetown; and Evan McQueen, Vice President at Core Capital Partners. Each will bring their own set of expertise to the table, equipped with advice about every stage of investing.

"For any company interested in the investing process, this is great insight into the VC community," Zonoozy said when describing the event over the phone. "You'll hear directly from the horses mouth what you need to know, rub elbows for a great networking opportunity, and then there's beer and wine. Is that a seller?"

Convinced? Head on over to Work District Friday night at 5 p.m. for a free chance to meet the InSITE crew and listen to some essential tips about early stage investing. See you there!
