Preview the Future of Innovation in the District With D.C. UpFront

For the past year D.C. has experienced unprecedented growth in a variety of industries and sectors, specifically innovations in education, technology, investment, and policy. Between the booming growth of the city's startup ecosystem, its continued development of the many educational institutions that reside in the area, and its penchant for contemporary changes in public policy, D.C. has become a hub for avant-garde businesses and organizations.

With that said, the InTheCapital team couldn't think of a better way to celebrate the many aforementioned organizations and companies that have furthered this city along the path of ingenuity and disruption than to host an event where the city's greatest thinkers, thought leaders, and doers can come together and discuss the future of innovation in the District.

Welcome to D.C. UpFront.

Hosted within the House of Sweden's stunning interiors on the Potomac River, D.C. UpFront will bring together leaders from a range of sectors in D.C. to engage, discuss, and cover the crossroads of education, technology, investment, and policy. The event will include booths and exhibits from some of the city's most exciting brands and companies, as well as star-studded panels that will include the region's greatest thought leaders. The current panelists include:

  • Tien Wong - Chairman and CEO of Lore Systems, Inc. Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Opus8, Inc.
  • Jonathan Aberman - Managing Director & Chairman of Amplifier Ventures
  • Jesse Rauch - Executive Director of the D.C State Board of Education; Serial Entrepreneur
  • Jeff Reid - Founding Director of the Georgetown Entrepreneurship Initiative
  • David Miller - Director of Entrepreneurship for George Mason University
  • Minh Nguyen - Founder of Plaxo, Founder and Chairman of Syllabuster, and CEO of AppPress
  • Elana Fine - Managing Director of the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship

Beyond the incredible list of guests and attendees for D.C. UpFront, the location of the event should be plenty reason to check it out: the House of Sweden. The building's beautiful interior design and the subtle intricacies of its layout lends itself to be a visual feast for any (especially since it's right on top of the Georgetown waterfront with an open rooftop), which is only furthered by the actual refreshments and open bar that will be provided on the day of the event.

The current schedule is as follows:

2:30 - 3:00 - Arrival, Networking, and Refreshments

3:00 - 4:00 - Panel Discussion: The Future of D.C.'s Innovation Ecosystem

4:00 - 5:00 - Open Bar & Networking

For anybody who's ever worked with a disruptive company, helped build a startup, or has contributed anything to the current technological ecosystem, I highly suggest you attend.
