The DC Tech and Student Startup Community Join Together for a Night of Demos, Pitches & Speeches

D.C. Tech meetups are a chance for the District's entrepreneurial community of technologists, investors, and innovators alike to gather and share their secrets to success while indulging in conversations about their passion for the capital's burgeoning startup scene. Each month, more than 800 of the District's brightest minds convene to witness the launching of new products, ventures flourishing, unique demos, and to network in an effort to meet other committed, driven like-minded folks. While they have always proven to be successful events in the past, this spring D.C. Tech Meetup co-organizer DJ Saul has decided to shake things up a bit. In noting the thriving startup culture on college campuses across the D.C. region, Tonight's D.C. Tech Meetup will feature student startup demos and pitches from local university students, highlighting the inspiring work of undergrads.

Saul, CMO of iStrategy Labs, is an alum of George Washington University, launched his first startup on the D.C.-based college campus, and even began a young entrepreneur group at his alma mater. He has always believed in the collegiate startup world, for he is proof of its success. In creating this special edition D.C. Tech meetup, Saul hopes to showcase the D.C. Tech community's support for the university startup scene, a resource for youth who are interested in receiving constructive feedback on their business concepts, products, and want to forge relationships with experienced professionals.

"I know a lot of startup scene entrepreneurial leads at universities, so I reached out to them and the response was positive," Saul explained. "They were really interested and excited."

Of those startups that will be present on tonight, the majority hail from George Washington University and University of Maryland with one Georgetown student startup and a George Mason faculty startup due to be present as well. Zvi Band, CEO of local startup Contactually; Elana Fine, Managing Director of the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship at University of Maryland; along with many other well-known names from the D.C. Tech community will also be delivering speeches aimed towards promoting the idea of local university startups and what we can do to aid in their success.
