Georgetown's Startup Student Incubator Showcases Hoyapreneur Growth at Open House

As the summer quickly approaches its halfway point, so too does Georgetown's StartupHoyas Incubator. Over the past few weeks, Georgetown student hoyapreneurs have been tirelessly working to perfect their business ventures alongside their accomplished mentors. Fine tuning their projects, extinguishing their last few bugs, and polishing up their elevator pitches, the aspiring startups are gearing up for their second open house of the season.

Differing from the first open house, the second open house will be hosted in partnership with TechStars, known as the number one startup accelerator in the world. With an impressive slew of accolades, TechStars has conquered the investor world, providing funding from more than 75 accredited venture capital firms and angel investors who allow for small scale startups to develop into the successful enterprises they have aspired to be.

As TechStars make entrepreneurial dreams come true, Georgetown's StartupHoyas Incubator hopes to do the same. Their eleven-week university-sponsored program has fostered the growth of 15 student-run businesses, giving youth access to highly coveted resources they otherwise would not have had the opportunity to attain.

From 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM tomorrow night, join the Georgetown student and alumni entrepreneurs as they celebrate their maturity since their first open house. The colossal advancements they have made over the course of the past month prove how valuable the incubator has been to their companies.

While sipping on the provided refreshments, you will be able to enjoy the vast array of displays portraying startups ranging anywhere from YellowFlag, a mobile application for the NCAA and NFL obsessed fan, to M?defy, a social web portal to democratize the fashion industry. As they pitch their business ideas, they will outline their well thought out plans and the necessity for their product. Donna Harris, managing director of Startup Regions at Startup America Partnership, will then speak as an expert business professional. Her advice and commentary will surely spark your interest.

Before the Hoyapreneurs reach their prime, make sure you get a chance to meet them. Attend tomorrow night's open house to get yourself acquainted with those who could potentially be the next business leaders of America or even the future Zuckerbergs.

For those of you that must miss what's sure to be an exciting night, make sure you attend their Demo Day Pitch Event on August 2. See you there!
