Georgetown Student Startup Accelerator Hosts Open House Tomorrow

Are you an aspiring student entrepreneur, member of the startup world, networking extraordinaire, or simply interested in the partnership between higher education and technology? If so, this event is right up your alley. Tomorrow night marks the informal "Open House/Networking" hosted by the Georgetown Summer Startup Program.

From 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, guests are welcome to attend the Open House in the Connelly Commons on the 3rd floor of the Rafik B. Hariri building. Attendees will be able to meet the students who created businesses worthy of entrance into the inaugural Georgetown Summer Startup Program.

The Georgetown Summer Startup Program is a university sponsored accelerator program designed to create innovative, adventurous students willing to explore new ideas to create their very own business ventures. As students are normally low on funds, Georgetown Entrepreneurship lends a hand, giving students the resources necessary to design their very own enterprises without the constraints of their normal budget. As an eleven-week intensive program, these potential startups are sure to grow over the length of the course, especially with mentorship and advising benefits.

In addition to shaking hands with the 15 student-run entrepreneurial companies, those in attendance will be able to witness each student entrepreneur's thirty-second elevator pitch. MBA alumnus Jason McCarthy will also speak, discussing his startup business GORUCK. From the positives to the negatives, McCarthy will outline what advice he has for others looking to begin their own company.

Networking will occur between faculty, business leaders, students, and investors to add to the startup family already prevalent around the D.C. area.

So join me in welcoming the newest batch of hoyapreneurs to the D.C. community tomorrow night. It's an event you don't want to miss out on.

If you do happen to get caught up in other affairs, feel free to show your support at their next Open House on July 18 or their Demo Day Pitch Event on August 2. Plenty of opportunities to meet the brightest new faces of entrepreneurship in D.C.
