Circl.es Believes Online Dating Should Suck Less [VIDEO]

Have you used Match.com? How about OkCupid? Maybe even HowAboutWe? Probably all three? Sad to say, but my guess is that you probably have not found that one true love that you always thought you would find so "easily" through online dating.

I'm sure (like most people who online date) you're asking yourself, why haven't these sites fulfilled their promise to find you companionship?

Why am I not as happy as those pretty people in the commercials?

Perhaps it's because you've been deceived. You look at a profile, see a picture of a tall, dark, handsome, six-pack wielding guy and you decide, yeah, that's who I've been looking for. You talk about picnics in the park, wild nights at salsa dancing clubs, and romantic strolls along the National Mall. You think you have found the one.

That is until you meet him and find out he's an overweight dude that still lives with his mom.

Considering how incredibly personal the process of online dating can be, accountability is difficult to find among dating sites. As a new site launching today, Circl.es is boldly combining your Facebook account with your online dating account.

This is a very risky duo. Facebook with dating? If we are having a debate about allowing employers to ask for our Facebook information, then how will a Facebook dating site be viewed?

It's not as bad as it seems. Circl.es makes a point to outline the fact that they are privacy wary. They want to protect your privacy while also providing you with the most honest form of dating. By combining the two big online moneymakers, it solves the problems most apparent in other online dating sites. There is still a sense of anonymity, Facebook will not post anything about Circl.es to your Timeline, but at the same time there is a 'real' life aspect to the app that allows for an honest dating scene.

The founder, Justin Krause, finds that there are three elements essential for a successful dating site: Simplicity, subtlety, and honesty. Circl.es does all of the above.

  • Simplicity - No need to construct your own profile like you do over and over again for each dating website you start using. Facebook already has your information on hand.
  • Subtlety - Only people you are interested in get to view your profile, limiting over exposure
  • Honesty - Accountability with identity verification

As a new startup, we have yet to see how they will succeed, but I see a bright future for Circl.es. Potential users may be skeptical at first, but it's worth a quick try. It is simple to deactivate, so there is no reason as to why you shouldn't take it for a spin. From someone that was curious, I can safely say that Circl.es is not like the regular creeper site, it's so much more.

Circl.es released a YouTube video the other day that points out the main problems with all other dating sites. Be prepared to laugh and morn at the same time, and yes, these are shockingly true accounts.
