D.C.-area startups take note, DC Inno Fire Awards nominations open for 2023

It's time to showcase the D.C.-area startups and entrepreneurs that are gaining serious momentum this year.

It's that time of year again — summer weather, D.C. Pride month and, now, the DC Inno and Washington Business Journal Fire Awards.

We’re highlighting the hottest companies and entrepreneurs in the DMV that have made big moves and even bigger news in the last year.

Nominations are now open, but act fast: You have until the June 30 deadline to apply. The DC Inno and Washington Business Journal teams will review your nominations and our coverage from the past year to determine who will make the 2023 list across a series of categories.

Then a panel of judges will vote for the top contender in each category. Those will be our “blazers” — the trailblazers that have left their marks on the ecosystem.

So, who makes the list? We recognize the founders, funders, ventures and visionaries who raised money, launched products and services, scaled up and expanded. We highlight those that dared to pivot, made the hard decisions and persevered. We look for the dreamers working to fix the problems, fill the gaps and create a tomorrow better than today.

We have spotlighted some tremendous companies and individuals in recent years. For a refresher, you can take a look through the 2022 class and blazers, the 2021 class and blazers, the 2020 class and blazers. And we know, there’s plenty more where that came from.

With that, we invite you to nominate yourselves or others, and tell us why you think they deserve to be on our Fire Awards list this year.
