Revolution Growth, a division of D.C. venture firm Revolution LLC that raises capital for larger private companies, said Tuesday it is bringing on Fazeela Abdul Rashid as a partner.

She joins Revolution Growth following more than 10 years at Singapore global investment firm Temasek International. In her most recent role as managing director, she guided Temasek's consumer coverage in the Americas, working with companies like medical device firm Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., wellness and weight-loss platform Noom Inc., men's razor company Harry's Inc. and meat-substitute company Impossible Foods Inc. She also launched and oversaw Temasek's diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, according to Revolution Growth's announcement.

“Her experience as an investor and trusted adviser to tech-enabled businesses makes her an invaluable addition, strengthening our approach of providing hands-on portfolio support,” said Revolution Growth Managing Partner Steve Murray in a statement.

Murray leads the growth division along with Revolution co-founder Steve Case and Monumental Sports & Entertainment founder and CEO Ted Leonsis. It typically invests between $25 million and $50 million in larger companies, and its portfolio includes Greater Washington-born companies like salad chain sweetgreen Inc., Mediterranean fast-casual chain Cava Group Inc., reverse logistics company Optoro Inc. and national companies such as DraftKings Inc. and Sportradar US. In late 2020, Revolution Growth said it was raising $500 million for a new fund, its fourth overall.

In a statement, Abdul Rashid said she would look to leverage her expertise in health care and consumer companies to make investments in U.S.-based startups.

"I have long admired Revolution Growth and its track record of partnering with innovative founders that are building category leaders in the consumer and enterprise spaces," she said in her statement.

Prior to her time at Temasek, Abdul Rashid worked at New York venture firm Solera Capital, surgical product and diagnostic company Cytyc Corp. (now part of Massachusetts-based Hologic Inc.) and Credit Suisse. She holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a bachelor's in chemical engineering from Cornell University.

D.C.-based Revolution focuses on founders and their ventures outside of Silicon Valley. Along with Revolution Growth, it also comprises Revolution Ventures and Rise of the Rest — which invests in young companies in smaller markets across the U.S.
