Six months after it was formed by the merger of two contractors, Two Six Technologies Inc. has made its first acquisition, purchasing Herndon technology consulting firm Trusted Concepts Inc.

Terms of the deal announced Tuesday were not disclosed, but it expands the Arlington-based technology contractor’s capabilities in areas like software engineering, data analytics and systems architecture and provides it a portfolio of largely classified work across the defense and intelligence sectors.

Owned by The Carlyle Group (NASDAQ: CG), Two Six Technologies emerged in February from a combination of IST Research Corp. and Two Six Labs LLC. The result is a melding of capabilities like cloud-based collaboration, cybersecurity and analytics tools with an open source data collection platform used to engage a remote workforce.

The addition of Trusted Concepts bolsters some of those capabilities with its work in the intelligence space, but it also provides tools like its TrustedKeep platform, a collection of data encryption and network access management tools that is compatible with Amazon Web Services' cloud offerings.

Those offerings are used across a wide swath of the Intelligence Community, including the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), the Defense Intelligence Agency, National Reconnaissance Office and State Department.

The acquisition will boost Two Six's workforce to 440 employees, a gain of 130, many of whom possess high-level security clearances.

“With our combined technical and operational capabilities, Two Six now has the means to more rapidly address the mission needs of a broad set of intelligence customers," said Two Six Technologies CEO Joe Logue, in a statement.

Baird served as financial adviser and Miles & Stockbridge as legal adviser to Trusted Concepts. Latham & Watkins LLP served as legal adviser to Carlyle and Two Six Technologies.
